Tagging Instructions
One Week Boutique now uses barcoded tags ONLY! No handwritten tags will be accepted. To make barcoded tags, you need to enter each item, size, price, etc. inot our easy tagging system. Print the tgas, attach them and then MAKE SOME MONEY! Go to our registration page to begin entering items.
> BEGIN TAGGING! If you're already registered, this is your one-stop spot! Click to begin tagging your items.
After inputting all of your item info, you will print your tags onto WHITE CARDSTOCK paper (thicker than regular weight paper). You may place clear tape over these tags when placing them on toys or large items, but do not distort or block the barcode with anything other than clear tape. We need to be able to scan the barcode. If you are bringing large items, print your tag but do not attach your tag until you get to the sale! We will need to attach your tag to a speical claim ticket.
Before entering your items, you MUST check the recall list and remove any recalled items from your inventory. http://www.cpsc.gov/ .
Do NOT bring items that look worn!!
One Week Boutique only accepts quality, clean items. Make sure you have looked at each item as though YOU were going to buy it. Check for stains, fading, holes in seams, rips, etc.
For simplicity, gather all of your items to be priced in one area. You will need:
- child sized hangers (plastic or wire) for clothing up to size 4T. If clothing is over 4T you must use adult hangers.
- NO "clip" hangers are allowed!!! All pants/shorts must be safety pinned to shirt hangers.
- white cardstock paper for barcode tags to be printed on
- safety pins at least 1 inch in size (NO straight pins)
- plastic zipped baggies (for shoes, toys with small parts, onezies, etc.)
- packing tape (for attaching tags to toys, etc. and for closing plastic bags)
- zip ties, string or ribbon (to put multiple piece items together)
It is also suggested that you have a scrapbooking type paper cutter. Barcode tags print 6 to a page. You will need to cut these apart after printing and that type of cutter is faster than using scissors (and your hand won't hurt!).
How to attach tags
- Place all garments on hangers with the hook facing to the left (so it looks like a question mark) Make sure to check the picture below. If they are all backwards, YOU will have to change them before putting on sales floor!
- NO "clip" hangers allowed! All pants or shorts should be safety pinned onto regular shirt hangers. (see example)
- To attach the card to the item: hold the tag vertically and attach it to the upper right front of the garment (see examples) as you are looking at the garment. Use a 1 inch or larger safety pin (no small gold safety pins and no straight pins).
- If you have toys or baby equipment you need to securely tape or tie the tag to the item. Remember that we will not know the item is yours if the tag falls off. Use clear tape so barcode is not blocked.
- If you have a large item (crib, stroller, playhouse, etc.) make and print your tag but do not attach it to the item at home. Bring it with you to the sale and we will give you a special ticket to atatch your tag to. This helps with large items during the sale.
- If combining books, videos, etc. be sure to tie or tape them together or put in clear baggie then tape tag on bag. We strongly reccommend putting several books together and sell as sets.
Attaching Tag Examples
Multiple Pieces If your item has more than one piece (car seat/stroller combo, etc.) make a tag for each piece with your consignor number and description but only put the price on ONE tag. Bring that tag with you to the sale and we will attach it to the "large item claim ticket".
Size and Description Do not use S, M, L to size your children's clothing items. Use specific numbers such as 6M for 6 months, 2T for 2 toddler, etc. Enter descriptions on all tags in case it gets separated from the item (color, brand, etc.). Only maternity clothing can be sized S, M, L, XL.
(Ex: "GAP 2 pc. Hot pink sweat suit" instead of "sweat suit")
Price You set your prices! Remember that you want to price your items to SELL. Keep in mind the quality, condition and brand name of the item when pricing. An easy formula is to price the item 1/3 of the original price and then adjust it according to the condition, go a little higher if in excellent condition, stay at a third for good condition, and go down a bit if it's gently worn. Be sure to ask yourself, "Would I buy this item for this price?" and remember to separate your sentimental thoughts from the value of the item. Do not bring "play clothes", leave those at home for a gargae sale. We do not have room for them and will give them back at inspection. The majority of our clothing is priced between $3-$6. ALL CLOTHING MUST BE PRICED AT LEAST $3! When pricing items use $.50 increments only!
$3.00 Clothing Rule Do not price clothing items under $3.00. Toys, books, shoes and supplies can be priced under $3.00. If your single, hanging, clothing item cannot bring $3.00 on it's own, pair it with something similar and THE SAME SIZE that will bring it to this amount. We will be strictly enforcing this $3.00 minimum rule on clothing. (Ex: if you have a t-shirt that won't bring $3 by itself, put a same size shirt or something else the same size with it to entice someone to pay $3.)
Half Price When tagging your items, you will see in the barcoding where you determine if it goes Half Price the last day or if it stays Full Price. We suggest any item you are going to DONATE, be sure to try it Half Price before donating.
