consignors > preparing merchandise

  • RECALL ITEMS: Every consignor MUST check the Consumer Product Safety website to make sure they do not have ANY items that are on the recall list. The new House Resolution 4040 requires that no children's items with a lead level over 600ppm be sold in the United States. You must adhere to this law so check the CPSC list for your items carefully. http://www.cpsc.gov/ You will be asked to sign a waiver stating that you HAVE checked that recall list.
  • SHOES: Limit 8 pair per consignor. All shoes will go through a seperate inspection! Shoes must be in excellent, like new condition. Do not bring sneakers or shoes with dirt or scratches on them, they will not be accepted. Bring only your best! Only season appropriate shoes.
  • MATERNITY: Limit 15 items per consignor. These brands only: Gap, Old Navy, Liz Lange, Mimi, Pea in the Pod, Motherhood, In Due Time from JC Penney and Oh Baby! from Kohl's. Other unique maternity pieces with sale management approval.
  • BABY GIRL CLOTHING: Within sizes NB, 3M & 6M you may bring 40 hangers total. You may bring additional sizes with no limit but this section has gotten out of control. Bring your best!
  • BABY BOY CLOTHING: Within sizes NB, 3M & 6M you may bring 40 hangers total. You may bring additional sizes with no limit but this section has gotten out of control. Bring your best!
  • HANGERS: preference is wire hangers but those are hard to find in children's sizes. Sometimes Meijer or Walmart has them. You can also use plastic hangers. If you have the ones from Kohls or Walmart that they give you, you can use those. Please don't use clippy pant hangers or the pant hangers where the waistband slides into the holder.
  • 2 piece outfits: hang the shirt on hanger as normal, turn hanger around and safety pin the pant waistband to the shoulders of the hanger (one pin on each side). Make sure the front of the pants are facing you. Do not pin pants to lower bar of hanger. If hung correctly, shopper should be able to see front of shirt, then turn hanger around and see front of pants. Do not use "clip" hangers!
  • When hanging any pants or shorts, please hold the item's waistband up to the TOP of the hanger, slide the pin through the item, catch the hanger, then MAKE SURE it comes through the item again. If it doesn't go through item twice, then the pins will slide down to bottom of hanger and continually tip to one end while on the rack and we will give it back to you at inspection. Make sure pants/shorts stay at top of hanger. Do not use "clip" hangers!
  • VHS Videos: Limit 5 per consignor, no R rated
  • BOOKS: Check all books for missing or torn pages. We get numerous books so be selective about what you bring. Please try to sell books in groups instead of individually! If you group books together in bags be sure to list all titles on index card so we can locate if separated.
  • TOYS: Toys and baby equipment (such as bassinets with lights, sound) must have ALL parts and be in good working order. If the item requires batteries make sure they are in the item or we will remove it from the sales floor as shoppers will not know if it works.
  • GAMES: take an extra minute to make sure that ALL pieces are with the game! Nothing makes a customer angrier than when they get home and untape a box to find it incomplete. This looks VERY bad on the sale and we can track it to your consignor number.
  • ALL furniture (cribs, changing tables, etc) MUST be put together to display in the sale. Items will not sell and will not be allowed if they are in pieces. Bring any tools needed. You may unload near the door.
  • Baby or children's bedding should be in large, clear plastic bags (see through blue bags are OK but distort color, try for clear). Bedding is bulky and may sit on the floor under the tables so make sure they are protected. Do not price bedding too high-we get numerous sets so make sure yours will compete.
  • We can only accept socks and underwear if they are in like new condition.
  • IMPORTANT! When attaching tags to items like baby equipment, riding toys, beds etc. attach your tag as usual but you must also place a piece of masking tape on the under side of the item with your consignor number and price of item so that IF the tag gets lost, we can still sell your item since we will know who it belongs to. You may place clear tape over barcodes, but do not cover barcode with anything else (we need to scan it).
  • Onezies and clean socks should be in plastic bags. Check neck area for stains!
  • Sleepers must be hung on hangers (all sizes), not in baggies. If you combine sleepers or onezies, make sure they are all the same size. See instructions above for hanging multiple items on hanger. (6th bullet down, 2 piece outfits)
  • Any small or loose items (rattles, Army guys, etc.) need to be placed in clear Ziploc type bags and taped shut (so little hands cannot open).
  • If bigger toy has smaller pieces, make sure smaller pieces are in a bag and tape or zip tie bag very securely to bigger toy. Tape baggie shut so little hands cannot open.
  • For the Fall/Winter sale, no shorts or short sleeve shirts will be accepted. We know kids wear short sleeves in the Fall but this is a space issue.
